It’s been a crazy past couple of weeks for the Jeffrey’s Bay FYM team. We’ve had to deal with team members going home for health and unavoidable reasons, and the past few days have been stressful since for a while we thought we might not be able to get visa extensions and there was a possibility we’d all have to leave the country mid-April! But, Praise the Lord, they finally processed our applications and we’re getting our visas! However, our entire schedule for our remaining time here has been switched around and we are now not leaving for Lesotho until April 5th and our spring break starts in a week. So, it’s been a little stressful but it’s all figured out now.
I’m at a bit of a loss for what to blog about at the moment – it’s been a long day and my mind’s a bit foggy, but I’ve been really lax in blogging lately. So I’m just going to post a poem I wrote sort of as a statement of faith for our discipleship group this past week and a half. Here goes:
This is Why I Love You
Oh God, creator of the heavens,
Master of the universe,
So awesome in glory and power
Yet you romance my heart.
The mountains speak of your majesty,
The oceans of your endless love,
The clouds are your handiwork;
With the sunsets you paint pictures in the sky.
The flowers reveal your love of beauty,
You shout for joy at the work of your hands.
Your power crashes like the thunder,
Yet in the laugh of a child your tender heart beats.
I can’t even fathom how you look down from heaven,
And notice me… love me… cherish me.
I am your workmanship, formed by your hands –
A product of your creativity and love.
Your love overwhelms me,
I stand in awe of your glory,
My heart beats with emotions words cannot express…
I’m so thankful, Lord.
You made the ultimate sacrifice,
Sent your Son, took my punishment.
My shame is washed away in the river of your cleansing blood.
I feel your hand upon my life,
You touch my heart, and whisper softly words of love,
When I see your creation and the things you have done,
I cannot help but believe
And know that you are God;
That you are Truth.
Lord, my desire is to be with you,
To rest in your presence,
To live in the light of your love.
On my own, I am nothing –
Just a drop of rain in a downpour,
Yet you sought me out and set me free;
You’ve stolen my heart – I am yours.
You’re the reason that I live,
I run in the freedom of your Love.
You pick me up when I fall;
Your grace and mercy never ceases.
I feel your gaze upon me,
Your eyes speak only of love.
Transform me into your image, O God,
Restore my heart to you.
Lord, this world can be a little crazy,
I don’t even pretend to have it all figured out,
But I know that you’re my shelter and my comfort –
The Rock on which I stand.
This love is never-changing,
Your ancient promises are true;
You’ve promised to lead and guide me;
Stay forever by my side.
Be my everything, Jesus, my source and my light,
And we’ll walk hand in hand through this journey of life.
Have a wonderful Easter, everyone!!!!!!!
