So we've been attending a conference this week in the mornings and evenings. It's made for an extremely busy week, since we left the house at 7:45 each morning for sessions, returning for lunch, going to ministry all afternoon, back to house to get cleaned up and eat supper, and then back to another session till about 10:00 at night. The week has absolutely flown by and I can hardly believe it's the weekend already. Sometimes I wish I could just stop time, or at least slow it down a little, since my time left in South Africa is ticking down much too fast for my liking at times.
One thing which spoke to me at the conference this week has stuck with me and continues to be a source of encouragement to me. It is this statement: "Though God may send me out among wolves, there will always be a lion, padding by my side." It just struck me as awesome and challenging and comforting at the same time. God doesn't call us to a life of safety! I think this is an assumption we as Christians many times wrongly make. God never promises that we will live in safety - but He does promise to be right there with us even though we may walk in dangerous places. I don't know what the future holds for me - neither the immediate future nor the more distant future - but I do know that wherever God calls me, even though it may be among 'wolves' or perhaps just simply not a plan I had envisioned for my life, the Lion of Judah will be right there with me, padding by my side.
